Sony a5100 battery life
How long does the battery life last?
For video?
A ½ to full hour when shooting video frequently.
I was having Preston use it for all by BTS videos.
The session will last about 2 hours Preston would go through 2 batteries, and sometimes into a third. Depending on the temperature.
Too hot or too cold, and the battery is a complete wild card!
Battery life for Photos?
I take this camera for pretty much all our family trips. It’s small and easy to put in my coat pocket.
The battery will last all day for shooting mainly photos, and a little video.
Battery life for photos and videos?
If you plan on using the a5100 to shoot both photos, and videos you should definitely pack an extra battery or two.
The battery does get drained, but not a real big deal to me.
Battery life and Overheating?
Yes, this thing overheats all the time! I do mean all the time.
The work around I used for my BTS videos when it was my primary BTS video camera is that Preston would shoot video for a 1 minute or so, and give it a break, for a couple minutes or so, and than go back at it.
Battery life In the cooler
As for the battery life In the cold it hasnt overheat on me yet.
But, it does get drained quickly.
